Molecover received – Excellent Product!

When you have been following my blog you have noticed a few posts about covers for Moleskine® notebooks. I had looked at the Rickshawbags Folios and the Gfeller’s leather book; but – I decided to go for the Molecover in the end.

The Rickhaw Folio was not available in the version I was looking for and the Gfeller seemed only available in a light brown leather and I was ideally looking for a black cover. The Molecover does not have a penloop/holder for my precious fountain pen but I was hoping that the penloop hack I am using will also work with the Molecover. So I ordered it last week!

The staff from Molecover was very helpful during the purchasing process and also offered me a $10 refund for all my efforts on Notebooking. During March Molecover also offers free international shipping and with all of this the Molecover was much less expensive than anything I had seen so far. My Molecover was shipped last week on Wednesday and I was so much hoping that it would arrive in time before I go for a short travel trip to see my dad for his bithday. Well, it arrived yesterday morning, even before the anticipated 10 days for shipping were over.

I was so excited and took the photos with my iPhone in the office where the lighting is not the best, so please forgive me the poorer quality (but I wanted to capture the moment :-) )

Let’s have a look at it now!

This is the first glimpse of what I saw when I opened the little parcel which was much thinner than I expected it to be but now I am actually very glad.

.

I had never any need for it before but now it came for free with my order and I will see when I need it.

Pic 4 - On the inner side on the right, there is the Molecover logo imprinted. A very nice little feature I have to say.

Sliding the Moleskine into the cover was relatively easy. First I took all the extra paper work I have in my Moleskine out, including the stuff I have in the inner pocket. Sliding the back into the cover was ok until I reached to the extra little opening for the elastic band. It was a bit fiddly to get the elastic band through which is still needed to close the Moleskine – a nice feature I really like by the way (pic 5). But once I had managed this, the rest was easy. The front hard cover of the notebook was easy to insert by bending the cover to the back and sliding it this was into the cover (pic 6).

Pic 7 - Inner Pocket

A great feature of the Molecover is that the inner pocket of my Moleskine is still fully accessible as you can see here (pic 7)

So, now to the penloop. I using this penloop hack and I was hoping I can continue to use it with the Molecover. I slit the elastic band of the penloop over the front cover right to the inner binding of the notebook. After closing the cover I noticed this little bulge here (pic 8).

I was not happy with this; it is due to the fact that the penloop was sitting just over the outer side of the Molecover. By moving the penloop more to the middle of the notebook, this problem is now solved too (pic 9).

So, after about a day using the Molecover, I can say that my excitement since I ordered it has not been in vain. I am very pleased with the Molecover. The leather is thin but looks very robust and durable. I appreciate the handmade workmanship.

The The fitting was easy enough and as I am using it on my planner it will only be changed once every 12 months, so no trouble here. My penloop hack works, extra point here. The back pocket is still in use, including the insert address book, another point for this. All in all, the Molecover gets 10 out of 10 points.

I am currently considering changing my planner from large size to small size and should I go ahead, I will for sure order the small Molecover too.

I congratulate Molecover to a great product and can only recommend it to everyone who is looking for a cover for their beloved Moleskine.
